Annoying Liberal Idiots.

For the last two weeks, I've watched....with dismay, I might add....the gas prices rising across the three counties in West Virginia that I must haunt (Cabell, Lincoln, and Wayne). I drive forty-five minutes to and from work five days a week in my gas guzzling Ford Ranger. I used to shake my head when the pump would cut off at $25. Then it started cutting off at $28. Then $30. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Last week, I was in a professional meeting discussing one of our client's program plans, when all of a sudden a representative from WV DHHR starts talking about gas prices.....then she says, "It's all George Bush's fault gas prices are the way they are. That money's going in his pocket." This annoyed me for two reasons: 1. We weren't at this meeting to talk about a client's programming, not gas prices. 2. I could care less what your political views are...and you're subjecting a captive audience to them.

I would never stand up in a group of people and just start discussing my political views. I'm pretty sure most people could give a crap what I think anyway. But what I will do is call people out who make idiotic statements without facts or figures to back it up. I rolled my eyes, looked at her, and said "Prove it."

She stopped what she was doing, looked at me and said, "Excuse me?"

"Prove it," I said again. "Prove Bush is behind the gas increase and the money's going in his pockets."
Needless to say, she couldn't prove it.

The Democrats and their minions continue to win the "War of the Spin" when it comes to rising gas costs....which makes me angry with Republicans. The GOP has been in control of the senate now for both of Bush's Presidential terms....and not much to show for it on this issue, in particular.

You can stop almost anyone on the street, however, and they blame the President for the rise in gas cost. Guess what? THEY'RE WRONG!!!!! Democrats, blame yourselves. Blame the radical environmental section of your party. Any time meaningful legislation comes up concerning the manufacturing of oil refineries to lessen the stress on our present oil infrastructure, somebody from the Sierra Club, League of Conservation Voters, or another wacko fringe group, blow a gasket. If anybody is in league with OPEC or the Saudis, it's these guys (there's a "conspiracy" for you). Because of these environmental groups, we do not have the ability to drill offshore or in ANWR (I'll get to that in a minute). However, I don't see the Sierra Club saying anything about Cuba building a new oil refinery. Yes, Cuba. The little Communist nation to our immediate south is building a refinery off their shores....which effectively puts it off our shores...doesn't it?
Concerning ANWR, environmentalists would have us believe there is only a six month supply of oil there, anyways. I mean, why would we stop the Caribou from gettin' jiggy with it for that little bit of oil? Wrong again, folks! (http://resourcescommittee.house.gov/Press/releases/2004/0316eiareport.htm)

We're talking about at least twenty-five years worth of oil there. How much do you think that would ease the burden of the little guy (You and Me)? Just look at the facts!
Look at what gasoline restrictions have done in California, the most freakishly liberal state of them all (in certain areas near Sean Penn's house).

I certainly agree we need to look into alternative fuel sources, but other countries have done it, and it will take some time. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5829046) I don't know about you, but I don't want to pay over $3.00 a gallon for gas for the next twenty to thirty years.

Bottom line: Liberal environmentalists have us over a barrel (yes, pun intended). Their radical views have been given credence by the likes of Ted Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, and Hillary "A wall would keep Jesus out" Clinton. Funny thing, though. I bet these liberal elitists don't drive around in a Prius or other environmentally friendly vehicle (of course, I simply hope Ted Kennedy isn't driving AT ALL)....and I'm pretty sure none of their limosines or private jets run on ethanol.

Next time somebody tells you it's Bush's fault, tell them to prove it....and I don't mean getting into a conspiratorial "X-files" type argument. Tell them to bring facts. Tell them whatever you want. Chances are, you could show them a graph or some other sheet with facts, and they wouldn't believe you. If people actually paid attention to all of the facts, we'd still be complaining about gas prices "rising" to $1.09, wouldn't we?
